Ladakh-Zanskar Valley Tour is an amazing journey to a culturally and naturally diverse Ladakh region and the once independent kingdom of Zanskar. This 12-day tour package is designed for those who grant to experience the isolated culture and history along with natural heritages of Ladakh and Zanskar. Ladakh is very delicate ecologically and the beauty and unique natural heritage of the region play major regions in tourism. Being both historically and culturally Tibetan, numerous ancient monasteries and villages can be seen which has unchanged over the centuries. Itinerary

Day 01: Fly to Delhi & fly to Leh

Flight Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes, 1 hour 30 minutes 

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Delhi and then to Leh from there. The flight from Delhi to Leh is an amazing flight above some of the magnificent peaks like K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum, and Nun Kun. Upon arrival, one of our representatives will greet you and transfer you to the respective hotel. In the evening, you will be visiting Leh Palace and Leh Bazar (market).

Day 02: Sightseeing around Leh

Today you will spend your day exploring Leh, the largest town in Ladakh.  Leh was once the capital of the Himalayan Kingdom of Ladakh. After your early morning breakfast, you will visit Hemis Monastery, a Himalayan (Tibetan) Buddhist monastery 45 km from Leh. Thikse Monastery will be the next destination. The Gompa is the largest monastery in central Ladakh situated 19 km east of Leh which resembles Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. And the last sightseeing spot will be Shey Monastery positioned in the hillock of Shey, 15km south of Leh which was an ancient capital of Ladakh.

Day 03:Drive to Sham valley

Driving Duration: 4 hours 

Today, you will head to Sham valley after breakfast in Leh. Following the Kargil Highway along the Zansker River, you will stop en route to visit Likir Monastery is a Buddhist monastery that is located at the elevation of 3700m. Beautifully positioned on a little hill, the monastery has two assembly halls. Rizong Monastery with 40 monks also lies en route to Sham Valley and it is also known as “Paradise for Meditation”. Continuing your journey, you will also pay a visit to Tingmosgang fortress in Temisgam village and observe the Palace and monastery located over a hillock.

Day 04:Drive to Kargil

Driving Duration: 3 hours 15 minutes

Today you will head towards Kargil after breakfast. You will take a break to explore Lamayuru Monastery built in the 11th century which falls en route to Kargil from Tingmosgang. The monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery and is one of the largest and old gompas in Ladakh consisting of five buildings. Continuing your drive, you will pass through one of the highest passes in the region named Fatu-La Pass at 13,489 ft. Upon arrival at Kargil, check-in at the hotel, and relax.

Day 5: Drive to Rangdum

Driving Duration: 3 hours 30 minutes

Early morning breakfast and you will head further up north towards today’s destination Rangdum. Rangdum is located 3657m above the sea level in an isolated region called Suru Valley. It is a beautiful village with colorful hills, wide grasslands on one side and glaciers and rocky mountains on the other side. Once you are in the village, you will be exploring the village and visit the main attraction of this place namely the Rangdum Monastery. Built about 200 years ago in the head of the Suru Valley, the monastery is believed to be the oldest in the area which is located at the elevation of 4,031m.

Day 06: Drive to Padum

Driving Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes

On this 6th day of this exciting journey, you will drive to an ancient kingdom of Zanskar, Padum. On your way to Padum, you will stop by for some time to explore a monastery called Sani Monastery. The monastery is situated at Sani Village 6km northeast of Padum. It is believed to be the oldest religious site in the whole Ladakh and Zanskar region.

Day 07: Sightseeing around Padum

The day today is eventful as you will be exploring Padum till the evening from the morning. After breakfast, you will be guided to Karsha Monastery. It is the largest and the most important monastery in Zanskar region where 100 monks reside. You will also visit a chorten near the monastery. Built-in 17th century, nearly 12 km south of Padum, Bardan Monastery will be the next stop. The last destination for today is Zangla Valley, 32 km of Padum. The main attraction of the valley is Zangla Monastery, an ancient monastery located at a hilltop on the right side of the village which was believed to be built in the 11th century.

Day 08: Drive to Rangdum

Driving Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes

After your early morning breakfast, leaving behind Padum, you will have a long drive back to Rangdum for your night.

Day 09: Drive to Kargil

Driving Duration: 3 hours 30 minutes

Today, you will continue to retrace the track to Kargil.

Day 10: Drive to Leh

Driving Duration: 5 hours

Today, you will be heading back to Leh. On the journey, you will make some time to visit the Alchi Monastery which was built in the 11th century. The monastery has the oldest surviving paintings of the kings of Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh of that time along with a huge statue of Lord Buddha. You will also explore a palace founded in the 15th century in Basgo which lies 40km from Leh.

Day 11: Fly to Delhi & fly to Kathmandu

Flying Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes, 1 hour 30 minutes

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Leh Airport for the flight to Delhi. From there, you will fly back to Kathmandu. You will have free time for shopping in the streets of Thamel or other areas.

Day 12: Departure Day

You will be transferred to the airport for your onward destination by a representative from our company 3 hours prior as per your flight schedule.
