One day Bungmati and Khokana Tour is approximately 6 hours private trip taking you to the beautiful settlement of Bungmati and Khokana which have maintained to retain their culture and traditions unspoiled since the 6th century. Just 10 km south from the capital, both Bungmati and Khokana are Newari Villages offering the chance to experience a culture reminiscent of the medieval period.
Bungmati is a classic medieval village and is believed to be a birthplace of Rato Macchindranath. The large Machhindranath Temple built in shikhara style is a home of the patron of the valley for six months of a year and for another six months, he resides in Patan. It is the main highlight of this area. Karya Binayak Temple, dedicated to Ganesh is another most significant site in Nepal which offers a splendid view of the surrounding areas overlooking the Bagmati valley. The tour to Bungmati will let you discover the main customs, traditions and lifestyle of the Newar people.
Khokana is a neighboring settlement of Bungmati and is also a tiny traditional Newari village. Located 8 km south of Kathmandu on the outskirts of Patan, this charming village has been known for the production of rich mustard oil since old days. One of the important religious sites is a Shree Rudrayani Temple, triple-tiered temple built in 1513.

On the morning, your guide will pick you up at the designated spot and drive to the tiny town of Bungmati in Lallitpur valley. You will get to explore the culture, tradition, religion and language of the local residents mainly Newar people. After exploring the important monuments and landmarks, you will head towards the nearby settlement of Khokana. You will get more knowledge about the Newari culture, customs and history here by visiting some important places including, a religious and significant building called Shree Rudrayani. By the end of the tour, you will be amused to explore these things in a short ample of time. In the late afternoon, you will be driven back to the center of the capital.
